Kitchen Backsplashes: Less is more!

Backsplashes: the eye candy of a kitchen! Backsplashes are the finishing touch that really makes a kitchen feel complete. From personal experience, & seeing many backsplashes by working in this industry, I can definitely say that less is MORE! I have seen people try so hard to make their backsplash be different from anyone elses.......& most the time it really just looks like they tried too hard! Keep in mind that a backsplash is not a tremendous expense such as cabinetry, but none the less it is a moderate expense that you do not want to have to redo 5 years down the road because you are so "over it"!  I always enjoy helping people come up with the perfect backsplash that fits their personality and the ones that always stand out the most are the simple, but elegant ones! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a pop of color in a backsplash isn't fun; I can totally be on board with color! Having said that, just make sure it is a color that you are very commited to; a color that is and has always been your favorite!  The last piece of advice I would like to give you is please hire someone you can trust. Always make sure they are licensed, insured, experienced. Ask for pictures, references, etc. After all, you get what you pay for! I would much rather pay a little more and have a gorgeous outcome than something that I have to stare at everyday that is not quality work! Now let's look at some great backsplash examples:

One of my favorite backsplashes has always been a timeless subway tile. The look is simple, but elegant. It never ages, never grows tired; it grounds the kitchen and completes it!

Fun "Black" subway tile with a white gout

Another staple here in the South is the Tumbled Stone backsplash. It has been very popular for over 10 years and I don't see it leaving anytime soon. It is still my #1 go to look for customers. You can use it in a Traditional kitchen, a Shabby Chic kitchen, a French Country kitchen, an so on

Then a trend that I am really loving and think it is also a "staple" look is a Pebble backsplash. This can give you such a cozy rustic look, but also play nice with a Vintage/Modern theme.

And last, but not least, here is a beautiful, white mosaic backsplash with a colorful, Aqua Blue centerpiece that is colorful, but not over the top.
