Emerald Green: 2013 Pantone's Color of the year

In 2012 our color of the year was a warm color, "Tangerine". However, we have moved to a cool color for 2013: Emerald Green! Emerald Green was popular even back in the 1930's with the Emerald City in the movie, Wizard of oz.

With Green being a cool color, it's calming, nurturing, serene & relaxing! But depending on the shade of green, it can also be invigorating & exciting! Green is a wonderful backdrop for bold rooms, or used as accent pieces in a neutral room. Let's take a look at a few different ways Emerald green is being used in today's designs:

With a backdrop of white, this table is fun, inviting, & a great topic of conversation. The display of plates makes the perfect balance between the Green & White. The chandalier is just too fun!

It's hard to describe this room. It's not quite a neutral b/c of the green chairs. It's rather ecclectic in it's color scheme, but it's  put together beautifully. I'm loving the patterns in the chairs & the gold used in the table and mirrors. The gold makes a great pairing with the green.

A backdrop of green, in my opinion, is just glorious. What do you think about the zebra print mirror & beautiful, geometric wall to wall carpet? I would describe this room as stunning!

You can be so bold as to use color with your light fixtures, (if it's the right color)! In this case, Emerald is the perfect color! Even though it's trendy now, it's still a timeless color that will still be beautiful 20 years from now!

Emerald green as a complete tub surround?  I admit, I would have reservations about this one. With that being said though,   what is the first thought you had when you looked at it? Mine was "WOW"!

This door needs no explanation. We all know we would love to have one just like it!

Emerald green in the fashion design world is speaking high volume this year too!

& last but certainly not least, my favorite:  who ever thought to paint a barn Emerald green instead of red? That is exactly why it's so brilliant!
Emerald Green is the color of 2013 & will be hot long after the ball drops for 2014!
