October~A time of spooky decor!

October is, by far, one of my favorite times of year! Who doesn't want to have some spooky fun....especially when it comes to décor?! I personally love decorating for Halloween. It's tradition at my house. It makes me feel like a kid again, back when I use to trick or treat and go to fun Halloween parties, or Haunted Houses. I always loved when my mom would get out the few Halloween decorations she had. It wasn't much, but it was enough! I love to see the classic décor, but I also love to see décor that is unique and just leaves you saying "I WANT THAT", or "WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT". Here are a few pretty cools Halloween ideas from Pinterest:

Gotta love a Vintage Halloween theme. These two looks are spot on! Love!

Love homemade Halloween décor! Isn't this clever?
An old piano always makes a good staple piece for Halloween
décor, especially with rats running across it!
Making paper ghosts and putting them in a mirror is a great, inexpensive way to spook up an entrance. Check out the spiders on the lamp shade and the spider web on the dresser.

Skeletons are an inexpensive way to spook up
a porch. I love this idea of having them climb up
 onto the roof. Too cute!

Why not have a Halloween party in the woods? You really can't get much spookier than that. When it get's dark, have some lanterns hanging from the trees!

Happy Fall Y'all!

Fall is such a fun time of year. There is always a feeling of magic in the air when the leaves begin to turn their brilliant colors and pumpkins & mums begin to show up on porches all over America! I always love seeing fall scapes on porches or yards. Fall is the perfect time to make something for yourself such as a wreath or piece of art. Here are a few ideas for décor & crafts & a recipe to get you in the spirit!

Let's look at some front porch that are decorated beautifully in Fall décor:

Keep it old fashioned.....a nod to simpler times

Always love bringing in the bright orange to our porches in the Fall!

Timeless.....makes me want to watch an episode of Gunsmoke!

Have a wreath making or pumpkin carving/décor party this season!

And last but not least

We will end this post with a Fall sweet treat:
APPLE FRITTER RINGS

INGREDIENTS
1/2 c plus 2 tb sugar
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
2 c buttermilk or milk
4 tsp veg oil, plus 2 c for frying
2 lg eggs, lightly beaten
2 c all-purpose flour (gluten-free flour worked perfectly)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp fine salt
4 med tart apples (such as Granny Smith), cored, peeled, cut into 1/2 inch-thick rings

DIRECTIONS
1. In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 c sugar and cinnamon. In another bowl, whisk milk, 4 tsp oil and eggs. Stir in flour, 2 tb sugar, baking powder, and salt.

2. In a large, heavy, high-sided skillet, heat 2 c oil until it registers 375 with a candy thermometer (or if water spatters when you flick drops of it in). In batches, coat apples in batter and fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes per batch, flipping halfway through.

3. Transfer to a paper-towel-lined baking sheet to drain. Toss apples in cinnamon-sugar and serve immediately. MAKES ABOUT 20.
